Actress Paris Berelc talks life as a superhero, her style inspiration, and what’s ahead for her.
Q – You started out doing modeling and in gymnastics. How did you transition into acting?
A – Working a commercial job back in the Midwest really piqued my curiosity about being an actor. This led to me enrolling in acting classes. It was pretty much love after that. Eventually my mom and I decided to put my gymnastics career on hold to fly out to California. I ended up booking a show a few months after. It’s been a crazy, overwhelming, and amazing ride and I am beyond grateful.
Q – Do you relate to any of the characters you’ve played?
A – I definitely relate to my current character, Skylar on Lab Rats: Elite Force. She really cares about her friends and would do anything to keep them safe. I would do the same for my own friends and family. She’s also kind, but not afraid to stand up for herself. She does struggle at times with fitting in, but she never strays from who she is. I can relate to that.
Q – You currently play a superhero. If you could have one superpower in real life, what would it be?
A – I would love the power to teleport. I really want to travel and that would make it so much easier – teleporting to any country in a second; plus, I could skip all the LA traffic. Who wouldn’t want that?
Q – How would you describe your personal style?
A – More on the edgy side. I gravitate towards darker colors and rocker-type looks. My mom is always trying to get me to dress more girly, so I do try to compromise sometimes.
Q – Who is your style inspiration?
A – Kendall Jenner and Selena Gomez. They’re always so glamorous and chic.
Q – Favorite moment on set?
A – One of my favorites is when I was surprised with a birthday cake two weeks before my actual birthday. Since my birthday is at the end of December, it’s usually skipped because we have holiday hiatus during that time; so I wasn’t expecting anything. Instead, I walked into my next scene there was this huge cake and everyone was singing. I teared up a bit. I really felt loved.
Q – Favorite ice cream flavor?
A – Anything with chocolate. I love chocolate!
Q – Last song you listened to?
A – Sweet Child O’ Mine by Guns and Roses.
Q – What’s next for you?
A – We just wrapped season one, so I’m crossing my fingers there’s going to be a season two pickup. I’ve also been taking a few college courses alongside my high school curriculum, so that’s been keeping me busy. Plus, there’s a few projects on the horizon that I can’t dish about just yet. Stay tuned!
