High-Stitched Voice Visits Generation

With our BCBGeneration Muses spread out all over the country, it isn’t often we get to enjoy their company in person! Luckily, we had the chance to take Stephanie from High-Stitched Voice on a tour of our offices, complete with metallic balloon animals and a cat couch. As one of our favorite bloggers, Stephanie continually wows us with her combination of fashion-forward, feminine style. One day she can work a pair of heels with boyfriend jeans, or a printed mini with a beanie, she always manages to look runway ready in a real way. Coupled with her long legs, longer locks and adorably sweet voice (her blog name comes with a reason), Stephanie is a clear style-star. She was nice enough to answer a few questions for us, the batman PJS were the biggest surprise, so take a look into her high-stiched life! And enjoy a peak into her jaunt around BCBGeneration.

My name is…

Stephanie Huang

But my friends call me…

Steph, Stephie, anything goes! I even have friends who call me High-Stitched Voice!

I came from…

I am currently based in Claremont, California; but I was born in Wisconsin, moved to Indiana, then Japan, and lived in Shanghai for a dozen years. I like to think that the city I currently live in, or am staying in, heavily influences my style.

I feel most at home when…

I’m in my batman pajamas.

Astrological sign…

Virgo

Few readers know that…

I’m pescetarian.

When I’m not blogging, I’m…

Thinking about blogging…jokes! No, really though, blogging and fashion do seem to take up 40% of my thought space and time. Otherwise, I love writing, reading, good music, lazy Sundays, and stuffing myself with Japanese food while at the table with loved ones. Sadly, my college workload also takes up a huge amount of my time, so holing myself up in the library is also a likely activity for me.

The name of my blog is…

High-Stitched Voice

And I named it that because…

Before starting my blog, I had a fashion column in high school. I chose to call it the High-Stitched Voice because I am somewhat known for my distinct timbre of voice—essentially, it is indeed, pretty high-pitched. In my eyes, columns and blogs are all about your personal voice and getting your opinions out there. Replacing the pitch with stitch, the essential building blocks of fashion and garments, and voila, I had myself a punny column name that eventually became my blog name!

I’m a BCBGeneration girl because…

I’m a huge advocate of empowering the new generation of young women out there—women who have a chance to be more ambitious, creative, and daring. I think Generation girls represent that ideal well, and I’m so honored to be one of them.

My closet is full of…
Staple pieces and basics with a twist; think denim, more denim, hoards of black shoes, baseball tees, shapeless dresses, as well as a healthy dose of colors and prints.

It maybe 2013, but I wish I lived in…
the 1920’s.

Guilty Pleasure…
Tangled songs—they’re on my Top 25 Most Played in iTunes…

Best Beauty Secret…
Lip stain over lipstick or lip gloss—you get the color without the stickiness! Utter durability!

Most Useful Advice…
I know it’s said often, but I always remind myself that some things are out of my control, and that I should let those incidents go once they’ve happened so that I can focus on the choices I actually can influence. As for my own decisions in life, I try to ensure that I’m doing what parallels my passions, ethics, and morals, rather than trying to please others or be practical and conventional. In essence, I’m definitely all about staying true to oneself.
